Anyone looking for a happening house party that lasts nearly all day on Sundays should check out The Do-Over, now being held at the Cabana Club in Hollywood. There is no cover for this fantastic house party and the doors open at 2 p.m., so get there early or you might miss out. By sundown the event is usually packed. The Sunday afternoon Do-Over events feature some of the area’s hottest DJs spinning the best house music on the planet. Whether your weekend was a bust and you’re trying to salvage what you can or it was so exiting you’re not ready for it to end, The Do-Over offers the perfect party atmosphere. largo at the coronet

Nestled in the heart of West Hollywood, Largo at the Coronet on La Cienega Boulevard is the perfect place to see and be seen in Los Angeles. The club is famous throughout the area for their spectacular comedic and musical performances, as well as the performances of resident singer/songwriter Jon Brion.

Owner Mark Flanagan opened Largo in the early 1990s on Fairfax Avenue. The original venue offered a maximum capacity of 130 people. Having outgrown its capacity, Flanagan moved the club to its current location in 2008. The main room of the Largo at the Coronet Theater seats 280 people in traditional theater-style seating and the “Little Room” can accommodate 65. The Little Room also serves as a place for people to gather for beer and wine before and after the shows, and allows artists to offer smaller performances in a more intimate setting.

Largo at the Coronet is even more popular in its new location on La Cienega than it was on Fairfax Avenue. The shows typically contain a mix of music and comedy and are often attended by celebrities. The nightclub has a great ambiance, the acoustics are amazing and there is not one bad seat in the house. Ticket prices are quite affordable, so shows often sell out quickly. Anyone interested in attending a show at the Largo at the Coronet should buy their tickets early and arrive at the venue early to get a seating assignment. Parking in the area can be difficult to find, but the Largo does have its own parking garage.

The Largo has launched the careers of many musicians and comedians, including Tenacious D and Jack Black. The theater has also hosted a wide range of celebrity acts, including Russell Brand, Sarah Silverman, Ben Folds and Fiona Apple. Yelp gives Largo four stars.

eden hollywood

eden hollywood

Eden Hollywood just opened in January 2011 and is one of the latest SBE venues. It is the appropriate name for this unexpected sanctuary night club located in the heart of Hollywood.  It is indeed a sophisticated and artsy venue reflecting your image from a wonderful mirrored vestibule, which leads you directly into a refreshing outdoor oasis – a perfect spot for relaxing under beautiful mature trees while enjoying your favorite cocktail. The dance floor is big, and there’s a stage that you can jump on with the occasional fog machine blast. Some might think the drinks are way too expensive, but its worth it as you will have a good time.
The DJ Booth serves both as the sound system mainframe and a striking center stage surrounded by partitions of oxidized helix.  Honeycomb-like nests made of brass adorn the ceiling, reminiscent of a masterpiece from the late Frank Lloyd.
MUSIC: Hip Hop / Top 40 / Mash Up
There is a pretty diverse crowd and the Yelp crowd gave three stars (only?). Check it out.

The Mint Los Angeles

The Mint is a Must Go for a night-out in LA. Just put it on your list.
It is another local landmark, the night club was established in 1937 and is best known for its live music. You would find great bands and singers that had performed at the Mint: Stevie Wonder, Willie Dixon, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles and more recently, Ben Harper, Macy Gray, The Wallflowers who honed their craft and kicked off their careers playing this Los Angeles night club.

People come to The Mint because of the live music first but also to hang out, have dinner,  grab some of the tapas, taquitos, calamari tempura and creole Jambalaya and some drinks.
It is an interesting live music venue indeed. The space is not very big at all but they have set it up just right with plenty of seating, standing room at the bar, and the stage is front and center. Some call it cozy, comfy and laid back. Find out yourself. The crowd at yelp gave it a 3.5 stars so far.
